Looking to make some New Year resolutions that you can stick to? When it comes to caring for your skin correctly, there are easy ways to enhance your skin care regime.

Here are our top 5 skin resolutions to guarantee your best skin in 2021!

1. Go Chemical Free

The low-tox movement is gaining momentum, and we can see why. As families move towards a chemical-free, low toxin lifestyle, this also applies to skin care. By committing to a range of chemical-free products you can drastically reduce chemical exposure within your household.

We firmly believe that natural is always best. Natural ingredients are recognised by the body’s skin cells, and therefore generally cause fewer reactions and sensitivities in vulnerable and young skins. There is a feel-good element to gaining real results with real ingredients.

2. Support Australian Made

Australian made and owned products are important for so many reasons. Australian made supports the economy, local jobs and ensures availability and strict regulation of ingredients and the quality of products. Where you can, always support locally made skin care products.

3. Cleanse Daily

The party season may have thrown you out of routine. Get back on track by simply cleansing to remove make-up, sunscreen and the daily dirt your skin encounters each day. Cleanse with a pH balanced soap-free cleanser to support your skin and prepare it to readily absorb lotions and oils.

4. Up Your Antioxidants

Up your antioxidants for skin that functions at its best. Ward off free radical attack from bacteria, UV rays and the environment by supporting your skin’s barrier. Antioxidants protect the skin and encourage a healthy, youthful appearance.

If you suffer with dry skin, redness or reactive skin, antioxidants such as Vitamin E can help relieve the itch and inflammation. Vitamin E products provide complete antioxidant support for skin that functions well and looks and feels youthful.

5. Restore + Protect

Once you’ve mastered your cleansing routine it’s important to restore moisture. Moisturising products that actively deliver water to skin cells will provide you with long lasting hydration. Hydrated skin functions at its best and better defends itself against dry skin symptoms. While you're there include a broad spectrum SPF in your routine to further ward off environmental damage and premature ageing caused by excess UV exposure. Make this part of your new morning ritual and achieve your best skin (naturally) in 2021.

Neutriderm Moisturising Lotion is an Australian made antioxidant rich Vitamin E skin treatment. It has been formulated to provide effective hydration while increasing barrier defence, fighting the signs of ageing and protecting against the elements. It is a complete skin moisturiser for anyone seeking smooth, supple and youthful looking skin.

4 Tips for Festive Season Skin

/ by Ismay Radisich posted in Neutriderm, Skin Care, Vitamin E, Sunscreen, ageing, treatment, skin brightening

The countdown to Christmas is on which means work parties, family photos and time in the sun. While you’re busy planning your end of year festivities, it’s important to take the time to care for your skin as we delve in to summer.

Here are our top (easy) ways to get your skin summer ready.

Tip 1: Dry Body Brush

Like most of us, the winter months have left you with dry skin. Before you can restore moisture, you must remove the redundant skin cells. A dry body brush can be used in long strokes down the arms and legs, or in circular motions. This is highly beneficial for not only removing dead skin cells but also for improving circulation, increasing lymphatic drainage and therefore improving the texture and tone of your skin – a great tool for cellulite sufferers. Just two minutes per day before a shower has shown to be beneficial for encouraging skin detox and boosting collagen.

Tip 2: Wash Away the Day

To remove the nasties of the day and encourage an even skin tone, a specialised body wash or cleansing bar can give you better results than a standard soap. A brightening body bar will help to remove dead skin cells while addressing uneven skin tone including pigmentation. This includes lightening scars, underarms and even intimate areas.

Alternatively, a natural soap-free cleansing bar will do the job of cleansing the body without drying and compromising the skin like a regular soap.

Tip 3: Protect with Broad Spectrum Sunscreen

Prevention is always best. To avoid premature ageing, pigmentation and reduce skin cancer threat, protecting the skin in the sun is vital. We know UV damage is the leading cause of skin degradation. A broad-spectrum 50+ sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB is important for those beach days as well as those long lunches in the sun.

Tip 4: Replenish with Antioxidants

Once you’ve prepared the skin, it’s important to restore hydration and nourishment. Antioxidants help to fight free radicals. Our skin encounters free radical attack from pollution, the environment and harmful chemicals in skin care and sunscreens. By boosting our antioxidants topically, we can support the skin and increase barrier protection. This allows the skin to defend itself against moisture loss to maintain softness and hydration.

Neutriderm Moisturising Lotion is a hydrating, skin soothing moisturiser jam packed with antioxidants (vitamin E). It has been formulated to restore moisture and protect skin from the harsh summer elements. An antioxidant rich moisturiser is your ultimate weapon to gaining beautiful, supple and soft summer skin.

Neutriderm Moisturising Lotion is an antioxidant rich Vitamin E skin treatment. It has been formulated to provide effective hydration while increasing barrier defence, fighting the signs of ageing and protecting against the elements. It is a complete skin moisturiser for anyone seeking smooth, supple and youthful looking skin.

How to Manage Nappy Rash at Home

/ by Ismay Radisich posted in Dermavive, Vitamin E, Moisturiser, Colloidal Oatmeal, hydrate, dry skin, Nappy Rash

Does nappy rash have your little one feeling irritated and uncomfortable? There's nothing worse than seeing your baby in discomfort, yet 30% of babies and toddlers experience nappy rash at any one time. *

The good news is, nappy rash can be relieved quickly and naturally by making simple changes at home.

1. Change Nappies Often

We know that the leading cause for nappy rash is exposure to urine and faeces for a prolonged period. For this reason, the number one thing you can do from home to limit nappy rash is to change nappies often. If your child is wet overnight, changing their nappy first thing in the morning is vital. Friction will also increase the occurrence of chaffing and inflammation once they start moving in a moist nappy.

2. Toilet Training

To break the cycle of nappy rash, toilet training is the best way to leave nappy rash in the past. It is however, easier said than done. Provided your child is ready for nappy-free time or day time toilet training, this will minimise the occurrence of nappy rash. A highly absorbent night time nappy will further support your progress.

3. Natural Antibacterial

You've likely invested in barrier creams that create a physical layer between the nappy and your baby's skin. This allows for the skin to heal while still wearing a nappy. Barrier creams containing Zinc Oxide are recommended over Talc products by the Raising Children network as they  provide the skin with a natural antibacterial layer to minimise the occurrence of infection and inflammation - safely. Zinc Oxide further protects the skin against irritants such as ammonia found in urine, and is praised for its barrier protection and antibacterial relief.

4. Anti-inflammatory and Healing

For immediate relief of itching, redness and swelling, look for products containing Colloidal Oatmeal. Avenanthramides found in oats has anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic activity while the cellulose and fibre found in oats neutralise the pH of dry itchy skin, making it effective to soothe and calm irritation. Colloidal Oatmeal also contains saponins for gentle cleansing and antibacterial properties to further prevent flare ups, and prevent moisture build-up.

Natural oils which restore moisture and soothe the skin are also recommended. Almond Oil in particular is a vitamin E rich oil that delivers superior soothing and healing properties to chapped, dry and compromised skin. Likewise, humectants such as Sodium PCA can be utilised for their natural moisturising factors to support hydration to skin which may be compromised due to wearing nappies.

Don't have these ingredients at home?  Containing a blend of the above mentioned powerhouse healers, Dermavive Nappy Rash Cream combines the powerful antibacterial, hydrating and healing benefits of natural ingredients to protect, restore and heal the symptoms of infant nappy rash.

When combined with the use of high absorbency nappies, nappy-free time and toilet training, this product can be used at each nappy change and post-bath without sensitivity or side effects. Natural Colloidal Oatmeal is gentle on sensitive skin and recommended for use on chapped, dry and broken skin without complications or irritation.

*NHS Nappy Rash

Dermavive Nappy Rash Cream provides immediate relief for infants experiencing inflammation and soreness due to nappy rash. This pH balanced cream will protect against irritants, prevent moisture build up and calm irritated and inflamed skin to soothe, heal and protect the delicate skin of an infant.

Winter Survival Guide: 4 Simple Hacks to Keep Winter Wrinkles Away

/ by Ismay Radisich posted in Neutriderm, Skin Care, Vitamin E, Moisturiser, hydrate, dry skin, ageing

Is your skin looking and feeling weathered thanks to the sudden temperature change? You're not alone. A staggering 93% of men and women surveyed noted a decline in skin health in the cooler months*.

Here are our tips for surviving winter with soft, supple and youthful looking skin.

1. Moisturise

During the cooler months, the skin can become compromised due to dry indoor environments and battling the outdoor elements. One of the key contributing factors which exacerbates the appearance of ageing is dehydration. Dehydration means your skin contains less than 10% water.

Supporting the skin barrier is vital in maintaining moisture levels and to avoid dehydration in challenging conditions. Moisturising the skin morning and night is the easiest way to encourage plump, youthful looking skin.

2. Brighten Dull Skin

If your skin is looking dull there are plenty of options beyond exfoliating. A skin whitening crème can be used in the cooler months to brighten dark circles and skin darkening which may have appeared during summer. Skin whitening crèmes come in a variety of forms and many have a dual anti-ageing and brightening effect. Natural ingredients which do not lead to photosensitivity are the kind to look for.

3. Opt for Antioxidants

Antioxidant rich creams are great for the skin on the face as well as the body. Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals which wreak havoc within our skin and accelerate the signs of ageing through cell damage.

4. Sun Protection

Just because the skies are grey doesn’t mean that UV radiation isn’t still damaging to the skin. We know that UV radiation is responsible for premature ageing and the rapid acceleration of wrinkles, that's why protecting your skin year-round with a sunscreen or moisturiser is vital for defending the skin against environmental damage. Overcast days, windy days, you name it. You still need to apply sunscreen.

Time-strapped? Here's an all-in-one product to make life easy...

If you’re looking to cover these hacks using just one product, Neutriderm Moisturising Lotion ticks all of the boxes. Vitamin E is rich in antioxidants which support skin functioning via intense hydration and barrier protection – to ensure long lasting skin softness and plumpness. Vitamin E has also shown photoprotective properties to protect the skin against environmental damage while encouraging an even skin tone.

Ingredients

  • Vitamin E Tocopherol Phosphate - when applied topically helps to hydrate and protect skin from damage caused by free radicals with photoprotective properties.

New Year Skin Resolutions

/ by Ismay Radisich posted in Neutriderm, Vitamin E, hydrate, dry skin, ageing, pigmentation

Is 2020 the year you achieve your best skin ever?

Changing your skin care routine is one of the simplest yet most rewarding resolutions you can set yourself - and it's much easier than training for a marathon! So let's start with some easy resolutions we promise ANYONE can stick to.

Resolution #1: Exfoliate Your Body Daily

Did you know you can jump-start the skin renewal process by encouraging dead skin cells to shed via exfoliation? Products containing Retinol will help you shed old dull skin cells making way for the younger skin cells to come through. Make it a habit to use an exfoliating body wash and look for body moisturisers containing Retinol to supercharge your efforts. Retinol will dissolve the bond between the dead skin cells and the surface of your skin allowing them to effectively regulate and lift away.

Resolution #2: Hydrate Straight After Your Shower

Restore the moisture to your skin when it needs it most. This means straight after the shower.

Hot water can strip the skin of precious oils and moisture and lead to dehydration of the skin. For this reason, post-shower is the best time to replenish your skin's vital water levels. Look for a moisturiser that contains hydrating ingredients such as Glycerin or Tocopherol which will restore moisture levels while locking the moisture into the skin with barrier protection capabilities.

Resolution #3: Brighten Up Those Imperfections

If uneven skin tone is a concern, opting for a product that contains brightening ingredients is a fast way to hydrate and brighten in one. Look for a product that contains both Retinol to encourage cell renewal along with brightening agents such as Tetrahydro Diferuloylmethane which is derived from Tumeric. This is a natural brightening addwdgent known to enhance skin tone and lighten areas of pigmentation commonly found on elbows, knees, and sensitive areas of the body as well as scarring.

Resolution #4: Know What You're Putting on Your Skin

One of the key things to remember, is to nourish your body. It's a two-way relationship. If you want your skin to look its best, encourage it to function optimally with the correct nourishment inside and out. Reading the ingredients list on your products is vital to encourage optimal skin health. We recommend using products with fewer ingredients and look for those active ingredients that really work. Do your research on the ingredients of a product before you buy!

Neutriderm Brightening Body Lotion is a multi-function body lotion which works to effectively restore moisture, encourage cell renewal and skin tone. This antioxidant-rich product is designed to achieve optimal hydration and an even skin tone thanks to the following professionally endorsed formulation:

Antioxidants in Skin Care: Are You Getting Enough?

/ by Ismay Radisich posted in Neutriderm, Vitamin E, hydrate, dry skin, ageing, pigmentation

They're considered the holy grail of skin care, and while it's generally assumed that antioxidants are good for us, how exactly do they work?

To help you understand the true power of antioxidants and which products pack an antioxidant punch, we explain what they are and why you should include antioxidant-rich products in your skin care regime.

 1. So what is an Antioxidant?

Antioxidants protect the skin from environmental damage and pollutants which can compromise the skin's integrity. They actively work to defend the skin when under attack. How good is that?

They do this by neutralising free radicals before they can cause harm to the skin. Antioxidants essentially latch onto the free radicals acting as a barrier between the free radical and the healthy skin molecule. In doing so they discourage damage to the skin molecule which minimises inflammation within the skin and lays the foundation for optimal skin health. To top it off, healthy skin can better defend itself against external pollutants, UV damage and dehydration further increasing your skin health.

2. The Hero's of Antioxidants

The most potent forms of antioxidants include Vitamins E, A and C. These guys pack a serious antioxidant punch!

Vitamin E in particular (often referred to as Tocopherol Acetate or Tocopherol Phosphate in skin care) is one of the most effective antioxidants found in skin care products. Vitamin E has a unique multi-function action of successfully delivering antioxidants to the outer layers of the skin while providing barrier protection to the surface of the skin which helps to maintain moisture retention.

The form of Vitamin E to look for is Tocopherol Phosphate. Tocopherol Phosphate is a naturally occurring form of vitamin E, as opposed to Tocopherol Acetate which is synthetic. While both have the ability to provide anti-ageing and healing benefits to the skin, Tocopherol Phosphate is in a class of its own. This is due to its ability to reduce membrane fluidity, cleanse, and prevent free radical transfer from one polyunsaturated fat to another - reducing further free radical damage to the skin. One of the only moisturisers to contain Tocopherol Phosphate is Neutriderm's Vitamin E Moisturising Lotion

If plump, soft, healthy looking skin is what you're after, this is a unique antioxidant and one to look for when purchasing creams, oils and serums.

3. Who Can Benefit From Antioxidants in Skin Care?

Antioxidants are beneficial for a variety of skin concerns. Commonly praised for their ability to help fight ageing and build the skin's immunity thanks to fighting free radicals, antioxidants also play a vital role in supporting skin which may suffer from:

  • Inflammation
  • Dry and dehydrated skins
  • Atopic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis
  • Ageing and premature ageing
  • Environmentally damaged skin including pigmentation

Inflamed and compromised skins negatively impact the skin's rejuvenation process. By calming inflammation, antioxidants create the environment for skin to repair itself and correct visible damage. Healthy skin is less likely to show the visible signs of environmental damage which includes dry skin, signs of premature ageing, pigmentation and more. Antioxidants are essential for the integrity of all skins to ensure they function at their best.

Neutriderm Moisturising Lotion is an antioxidant-rich product designed to restore and maintain moisture levels within the skin for long lasting hydration thanks to its dermatologically endorsed formulation:

  • Vitamin E Tocopherol Phosphate - when applied topically helps to nourish and protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals.
  • Sodium PCA - increases the water content of the skin's surface by drawing moisture from the surrounding air.
  • Glycerin - a humectant used for its ability to draw water into the outer layer of the skin for increased hydration levels.

Four Fast Healing Nappy Rash Remedies

/ by Ismay Radisich posted in Dermavive, Vitamin E, Colloidal Oatmeal, hydrate

Almost 75% of babies* will develop nappy rash in their first 12 months, and unfortunately for you and baby, once it rears its head it can be hard to control. So prevention is always best, but every now and then a cure is required to restore your baby's delicate skin back to normal so they can be their happy little self.

Here are our fastest healing nappy rash remedies which focus on preventing and healing nappy rash quickly.

Use a High Absorbency Nappy
Most nappy rashes are caused by a wet nappy rubbing against a baby's skin. Finding the right nappies for your bub can be trial and error - there are so many options! Being spoiled for choice is a luxury, but how do you choose the right kind for you?
If your baby is prone to nappy rash, a high absorbency nappy with excellent moisture whicking capabilities is vital. We recommend looking for nappies that claim to be "high absorbency".
Nappies that feature the "wetness indicator" will also help to minimise time spent in a wet nappy. The wetness indicator which usually presents itself in a line at the front of the nappy will change colour once it gets wet to indicate when it's time for a change.

Nappy-free Time!
In addition to keeping your baby's bottom dry with a high absorbency nappy, some time without a nappy is vital as well. As the weather warms up, some nappy-free time can do wonders for your little one as they embrace the feeling of no nappy at all. This could be part of your daily routine for 30 minutes either before or after bath time.

Wash With Non-irritating Baby Products
What you wash your baby with is important for maintaining harmony within your little one's skin. If your little one is experiencing inflammation, washing with water alone will be the least irritating way to bathe. If you do choose to use a baby wash, a product that is pH balanced, derived from natural ingredients, and soap-free (to avoid stripping precious moisture from an already irritated area) will have the gentlest affect on the delicate skin of your little one. Look for dermatologically tested products which are specifically formulated for sensitive skins.

Use a Colloidal Oatmeal Nappy Rash Cream
A pH balanced nappy rash cream like Dermavive Nappy Rash Cream will not only soothe the skin with its natural colloidal oatmeal anti-inflammatory properties, it will also provide a protective barrier between your baby's skin and their nappy. This helps to heal nappy rash in two ways. The first being that it provides a physical barrier from the friction of a wet surface, which protects the skin and gives existing nappy rash the chance to heal. The second being its ability to provide barrier protection to maintain moisture within the skin and heal the surface of the skin with its active ingredients.
A pH balanced product will also help to regulate the acid mantle which is responsible for helping the skin defend itself against external irritations as well as bacteria.

Dermavive Nappy Rash Cream contains the following active ingredients to help heal your baby's nappy rash, FAST!

  • Natural Colloidal Oatmeal contains saponins which have cleansing and antibacterial properties. The cellulose and fibre found in the oats neutralise the pH of dry itchy skin, making it effective to soothe and calm irritation.
  • Sodium PCA is a humectant with natural moisturising factors to support hydration levels within the skin.
  • Zinc Oxide acts as a skin protectant to provide effective barrier protection as well as providing antibacterial relief.
  • Almond Oil is a vitamin E rich oil that delivers superior soothing and healing properties to chapped, dry and compromised skin.

Dermavive Nappy Rash Cream is the only formula on the market which contains both Colloidal Oatmeal and Zinc Oxide making it a unique dual-acting nappy rash remedy.
